A rhinoplasty typically takes one to two hours in an outpatient setting. The patient is administered general anaesthetic, or local anaesthetic and sedation. Dr. Kara will carefully reshape bone and cartilage to balance and refine the structure of the nose. Absorbable sutures are then placed into the nose; a splint may also be added as necessary.

Results and Aftercare for Rhinoplasty

Recovery time takes between one and two weeks, although patients should avoid strenuous activities for at least a week after recovery, and avoid activities that may injure their noses for six weeks. The new shape of the nose will gradually become apparent during the weeks that follow surgery.

Temporary side effects include swelling, bruising, and headaches, as well as some bleeding and stiffness. Dr. Kara may prescribe pain medication to ease these symptoms.
