Alternative BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatments in Toronto

BOTOX® Cosmetic may be most famous for its use as an anti-wrinkle treatment, but less well-known are the therapeutic, medical uses for BOTOX treatment in Toronto. BOTOX was not originally designed as a cosmetic product. It was originally used to treat eye conditions, and the anti-wrinkle property was discovered as a side effect. Dr. Kara can perform BOTOX in Toronto for patients who suffer a variety of eye conditions.

To find out more about the alternative uses for BOTOX, request a complimentary consultation online or call (800) 390-5611. We offer our first-time consultation patients a free microdermabrasion treatment as our way of saying "thank you" for considering us.

Choosing To Get BOTOX: Who's A Good Candidate?

Certain eye conditions, like crossed eyes, are related to the muscles that control our eyes. BOTOX works by temporarily paralyzing muscles, which can help control crossed eyes. BOTOX can also provide relief from twitches and spasms in the muscles around your eyes.

Dr. Kara uses BOTOX to treat eye conditions such as:

  • Hyperhidrosis,
  • Blepharospasm (eye twitching),
  • Strabismus (crossed eyes), and
  • Muscle spasms

If you have not had injections of another botulinum product, and have never had an allergic reaction to a botulinum product, you may be eligible to receive medical eye correction with BOTOX.

Your BOTOX Treatment In Toronto

Medical eye correction is similar to cosmetic uses of BOTOX. The BOTOX is injected into the muscles around your eyes. BOTOX causes temporary paralysis in your muscles. On the forehead, this paralysis can stop furrows from forming between your eyebrows. In the muscles around the eyes, this paralysis stops muscle spasms.

BOTOX injections are quick. A series of injections takes only about 15 minutes. Most patients have very minimal discomfort.

Results And Aftercare For BOTOX

After a BOTOX injection, you may have redness at the injection site. You should avoid alcohol and exercise for 24 hours following injections. You should not nap or lie down for several hours after BOTOX injections.

The effects of BOTOX are not immediate. BOTOX takes effect 7-14 days following your injections. The muscle twitches or spasms around your eye will reduce and then stop.

BOTOX will keep your muscles inactive for 3-4 months on average. You can have additional treatments when the effects wear off.
